For customers of our ADP iHCM integration.
In addition to the default data fields imported from ADP iHCM, you can import custom field data for people and positions. You can then utilize your custom field data in reports, when applying org chart visualization tools, and more.
For each ADP iHCM custom field you want to import, you must first create an identical custom field in Built:
Only Company Admins and HR Admins can create custom fields. Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can initiate an import. Learn more about managing user roles and permissions.
Click your company name at the top of the main navigation, then click Company Settings.
Click the Fields tab.
Click the Add Field button in the upper-right corner to create a new custom field.
While all Built customers can add custom people fields, only customers of our Position Management module can add custom asset or position fields. Custom asset data cannot be imported from ADP iHCM. Imported people and position field data will be appropriately mapped to your Built custom field, even if the entity types do not match.Enter the name and an optional description of the custom field you want to add.
The custom field name for the ADP iHCM custom field and the Built custom field must match exactly. Ensure that all characters are identical and there are no extra spaces before or after the name.
Click the Field Type dropdown to select Short Text, Numeric, or Currency. The field type set in ADP iHCM must map to a corresponding field type in Built. While some ADP iHCM field types correspond to an equivalent field type in Built (Number field in ADP iHCM; Numeric in Built), other ADP iHCM field types must be stored in Built as short text. Refer to the table below to choose the appropriate field type:

Here’s an example of how you might select a field type when importing a custom field from ADP iHCM:
Your organization has a number custom field in ADP iHCM called "Security Level" and a short answer custom field in ADP iHCM called "Food Allergies." In Built, you would create a position custom field called "Security Level" and set the field type to Numeric, then create a people custom field called "Food Allergies" and set the field type to Short Text.
Select the appropriate settings for the new custom field, and click Save. Your custom field data will be updated during all future imports. Learn more about utilizing custom fields.
Notes about imported custom fields:
If a person has multiple positions in Built, imported position custom field data will be applied to all of their positions.
If custom field data is deleted in ADP iHCM after it’s been imported from ADP iHCM, the data will remain until you clear the data manually or delete the custom field in Built.
