Connecting Paychex® to Built

For customers new to our Paychex integration. Supported integrations include Paychex Flex Select, Paychex Flex Pro, Paychex Flex Enterprise, HR Partner Plus, HR Pro, and HR PEO.


Getting Started

If you do not already have a Built account, please connect with our team before initiating your Paychex integration.

Enabling Your Integration

Please contact our Customer Success Team to schedule an implementation call. During your call, a member of our team will help you enable your integration, configure your account settings, and ensure your Paychex data is imported correctly.

Authorization Requirements

You’ll be asked to provide your Paychex Client ID (located in the upper-left corner of your Paychex Flex account). You will then be provided with a link to grant Built access to your Paychex account. The link will open your Paychex account and display a checkbox to agree to the terms of use before clicking Approve. After connecting to Paychex, daily automatic imports will be enabled. You may also initiate a manual import from Paychex at any time.

Notes about implementation:

To initiate a manual import in Built:

Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can import data.

  1. From Built's main menu, navigate to the Org Chart page.

    You can also import people and positions from the People page.

  2. Click the import/export icon in the upper-right corner of the page, then click Records from Paychex. The system will confirm when your import is complete and display your import summary.
    During the import, the system may prompt you to match new records from Paychex to existing records in Built and/or correct any errors.

Notes about managing your Paychex integration and import settings:

  • If you'd like to disable automatic imports, click your company name at the top of the main navigation and then navigate to Company Settings > Imports. (If the Imports tab is not initially visible, locate it by clicking More.) Locate the Paychex Import Settings section and click the Edit button. Click the Enable Automatic Imports dropdown to select No, and then click Save.

  • To deactivate your Paychex integration, navigate to Company Settings > Integrations. Locate and click Paychex. Click Deactivate.
