To add a career ladder in Built:
Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can manage career ladders. Learn more about managing user roles and permissions.
From the main menu, navigate to the Position Management (or Positions) page, then click the Job Architecture tab.
Click the Manage Career Ladders button.
When the table opens, click the + Add Career Ladder button in the upper right corner.
When the Add Career Ladder window opens, enter a unique code, name, and optional description for the new career ladder.
Click Save. You’ll be directed to a page where you can view the career ladder details and add job definitions.
To add job definitions to a career ladder:
When viewing a career ladder page, locate the Career Ladder section and ensure the Edit mode toggle is on.
Enter a title in the Add Job Definition field and select an option from the list that populates.
Add more job definitions as needed.
Notes about adding job definitions to a career ladder:
Job definitions can belong to only one career ladder.
You can split a career ladder by hovering over the junction between two job definitions and clicking Split Track. Once split, you can name each track by clicking the badge above. To remove a split track and all job definitions above it, click Delete Track. A career ladder can only be split into two tracks.
Stats displayed in the upper right corner of the page include data for all positions associated with the job definitions in the career ladder.
For customers of our Succession Planning module: If a career ladder’s jobs have associated positions, the jobs and career ladder will be discoverable by individuals exploring internal mobility opportunities.
Viewing, Replacing, or Removing a Job Definition
When viewing a career ladder, click the three-dot menu next to the desired job definition and choose the appropriate option:
•View: Navigate to the job definition page where you can view and manage its data.
•Replace: Remove the job definition from the career ladder and select a new one.
•Remove: Remove the job definition from the career ladder.
If only one job definition has been added to the career ladder, it cannot be removed.
To view, edit, or delete a career ladder:
Navigate to Position Management (or Positions) > Job Architecture > Manage Career Ladders.
Locate the desired career ladder in the table, then click the three-dot menu in the leftmost column and choose the appropriate option:
•View: Navigate to the career ladder page where you can view and manage career ladder details.
•Edit: Adjust the career ladder’s code, name, and/or description before clicking Save.
•Delete: Delete the career ladder from Built. Click the Delete button to confirm this action.
