For customers of our Position Management or Succession Planning module.
To create a job family:
Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can manage job families and subfamilies. Learn more about managing user roles and permissions.
From the main menu, navigate to the Position Management (or Positions) page, then click the Job Architecture tab.
Click the Manage Job Families button.
When the table opens, click the + Add Job Family button in the upper right corner.
When the Add Job Family window opens, enter a name and optional description for the new job family.
Click Save. Once the job family is created, you can add a subfamily and/or add job definitions to the new job family.
To edit or delete a job family:
Navigate to Position Management (or Positions) > Job Architecture > Manage Job Families.
Locate the desired job family in the table, then click the three-dot menu in the rightmost column to choose the desired option:
•Edit: Adjust the name and/or description before clicking Save.
•Delete: Remove the job family from Built. If the job family you’re removing contains job definitions, you’ll be prompted to move them to another job family/subfamily before clicking the Delete button to proceed.
To add a job subfamily:
Navigate to Position Management (or Positions) > Job Architecture > Manage Job Families.
Click the job family for which you want to add a subfamily.
When the job family opens, locate the Subfamilies section and click the + Add Subfamily button.
When the Add Subfamily window opens, enter a name and optional description for the new subfamily.
Click Save.
To edit, move, or delete a job subfamily:
Navigate to Position Management (or Positions) > Job Architecture > Manage Job Families.
Click the job family under which the subfamily was created.
In the Subfamilies section, click the subfamily you’d like to edit, move, or delete.
When the subfamily opens, click the three-dot menu at the top of the page and choose the desired option:
•Edit Job Subfamily: Make any needed changes before clicking Save.
•Move to New Job Family: Select a new job family by clicking the dropdown and then Move.
•Delete: Remove the subfamily from Built. If the job subfamily you’re removing contains job definitions, you’ll be prompted to move them to another job family/subfamily before clicking the Delete button to confirm this action.
You cannot edit, move, or delete default job subfamilies.
For customers of our Succession Planning module: Individuals exploring internal mobility opportunities can browse job families to learn more about jobs within a specific job family/subfamily.
