For customers of our Position Management module.

To add or adjust a position’s budgeted base pay and/or budgeted variable pay:

Note: Only admins with permission to view/edit compensation can edit position budgets. By default, only Company Admins can view/edit compensation, but permission can be added for HR Admins, HR Managers, and Limited Admins. Limited Admins with permission to view/edit compensation can edit budgets for their subordinates and/or the subordinates of other specified positions. To learn more, refer to: Understanding User Roles & Permissions.

  1. From the main menu, navigate to the Org Chart page.

  2. Click the chart dropdown at the top of the page to select your official org chart or a scenario chart.

Note: Changes to a position’s budget in a scenario chart won’t affect data elsewhere in Built unless you apply changes to your official chart by merging charts. To learn more, refer to: Creating and Managing Scenario Charts.

  3. Navigate or search the org chart to locate a position.

  4. Hover over the appropriate position card and click the three-dot menu, then click Edit Position.

Note: You can access the Edit Position window from the Positions table by navigating to the Position Management page, clicking the Positions tab, and clicking the three-dot menu next to the appropriate position.

  5. In the Edit Position window, click the Planning tab and locate the Budget section.

  6. To add or edit the position’s Budgeted Base Pay, use the Base Pay dropdown to select Salary or Hourly.

•For Salary, enter the yearly base salary budget.

•If you selected Hourly, enter the hourly rate and the number of hours the position will cover per week.

Note: The position’s Total Annual Budget will update as you adjust the budgeted base pay and budgeted variable pay.

  7. To add or edit the position’s Budgeted Variable Pay, use the Variable Pay dropdown to select Amount or Percent of Base before entering a value.

Note: You can create customized variable pay types by clicking the + Add button in the Budget section, entering the name of the new variable pay type, then clicking Add. When managing variable pay types from the Position Management page, you can add, edit, or delete your organization’s variable pay types.
