For customers of our Position Management Module.
Once a funding source is created in Built, you can assign funds to one or more positions.
To create a funding source in Built:
Only Company Admins can create funding sources. Learn about managing user roles and permissions.
From the main menu, navigate to the Position Management page and click the Funding Sources tab.
Click the + Add Funding Source button.
When the Add Funding Source window opens, enter the funding source name, optional description, amount, start date, and end date before clicking Save. The new funding source will appear on the list. You can now assign the funds to individual positions.
To assign or adjust a position’s funds:
By default, only Company Admins can view and edit position budgets and assign funding sources. HR Admins, HR Managers, and Limited Admins with permission to view and edit position budgets can assign funding sources within their specified scope. Learn more about managing user roles and permissions.
From the main menu, navigate to the Position Management page.
Click the three-dot menu next to the position ID.
When the menu opens, click Edit Position.
In the Edit Position window, click the Planning tab.
Locate the Funding section and click the + Add button.
When the Add Funding Source window opens, begin entering the name of the funding source, then select the desired funding source from the list that appears, then click Add.
Click the dropdown to select your preferred method for allocating funds before entering a value to the right of the funding source. Choose between automatically calculating the amount based on a % of the position’s budget (default) or setting a specific dollar amount:
•% of Position’s Budget: This calculation will change as you adjust the percentage or the total position budget. When the first funding source is entered, 100% will appear as a default, but you can adjust this as needed.
If the position’s budget has not yet been entered, the dollar amounts will equate to $0, and funds will not be subtracted from the funding source.
•Amount: The funds you enter will be subtracted from the funding source, regardless of whether the position’s budget has been entered.
Additional notes about funding source allocations:
•When changing whether funds are calculated by % of the position’s budget or amount, any listed allocations will be cleared.
•While the system will allow you to allocate any amount from a funding source, an alert will notify you when there are not enough funds or too many funds for the position budget. Hover over the exclamation icon for more information.
Add more funding sources as needed by repeating the steps above.
After assigning a funding source to a position budget, you can hover over its information icon to reveal additional details including the total funding source amount, the amount allocated to other positions, the amount allocated to this position, and remaining unallocated funds.Click Save.
While you can include funding source data when exporting people or positions, currently, funding source data cannot be imported into Built.
