To add or update a person’s photo:
Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can upload an individual’s photo. Limited Admins can upload photos for individuals within their specified scope. Learn more about managing user roles and permissions.
Navigate to a person’s profile by entering their name or title in the field at the top of the main navigation and clicking their name in the list that populates.
You can also upload an individual’s photo from their info panel on the Person tab by following the steps below.
Hover over the person’s avatar or existing photo and click the upload icon.
Select an image from your device.
When the photo appears in the Edit Image window, use the tools provided to crop, rotate, or zoom in/out before clicking Save.
To prepare and upload a .zip file containing multiple individuals’ photos:
Add photos to a single folder on your device, ensuring the following specifications:
•Photos must be .jpg, .png, or .gif files.
•Each photo file must be no larger than 6 MB.
•Each photo must be named using one of these methods: First name underscore last name (john_brown.jpg) or employee ID (1401.jpg).
•We recommend resizing all landscape-orientation photos to 640x480 dimensions and all portrait-orientation photos to 480x640. You can use a program like Photoshop to batch resize the photos.
Compress the folder to create a .zip file and ensure the file is no larger than 600 MB.
From Built’s main menu, navigate to the People page.
Click the Import button, then click Photos from ZIP.
Click the Upload Zip File button and select the prepared .zip file from your device. When the file uploads successfully, you'll be redirected to the People page.
The system will notify you of any errors. Photos are processed asynchronously, so depending on how many you upload, it may take a bit of time before they are all visible.
To show or hide photos on an org chart:
From the main menu, navigate to the Org Chart page. Click the chart dropdown at the top of the page to select your official chart or a scenario chart.
When the chart opens, locate the Visualization Tools Panel at the top of the page and click the equalizer icon to open the Data Options menu.
Locate the Show/Hide Basic Data section and use the checkboxes provided to choose what you’d like to display.
Click the Apply button.
Your selections will only affect your visualization in Built and will not impact visualization for other individuals viewing the chart. When printing or sharing the org chart, your selections will be displayed. Company Admins and HR Admins can select the default view and displayed data fields for all individuals. To do this, click your company name at the top of the main navigation, click Company Settings, then click the General tab. Locate the Org Chart Default Settings section and click the Edit button to make your desired selections before clicking Save.
