Terminating a person's employment archives their record. None of their information is deleted. You are not charged for terminated individuals.

To terminate a person's employment within Built:

  1. Go to the person’s profile by entering their name or title in the search field at the top of the main navigation and then clicking on the individual in the list that populates.

  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the person's name at the top of the page, then click Change Employee Status.

  3. Change the status from Active to either Terminated or Termination Scheduled, depending on whether the termination date is in the future or not.

Note: If you set the person's status to Termination Scheduled, the system will automatically change their status to Terminated at the end of the day on the provided termination date.

  4. Enter the termination date (the person's last day of employment).

  5. Choose the termination reason Voluntary or Involuntary.

  6. Confirm whether you’d like to maintain the open position or delete the position and move any reporting relationships up on the org chart.

Note: Unless a position is being eliminated, we recommend maintaining open positions to ensure accurate and complete position history and data. Learn more about utilizing your position data.

  7. Click Save.

Once a person's status is changed to Terminated, the following changes will take place on their termination date:

  1. The person’s access to your company account will be disabled. If the person is currently logged in, the system will immediately kick them out.

  2. The person’s termination date will be displayed at the top of their profile. Their data will no longer appear across Built (other than in the turnover statistics).

  3. The person’s data will be archived for future reference. Learn more about accessing and restoring terminated individuals.

  4. The person’s work and personal email will be removed from any automatic import notifications.
