Connecting People in isolved® with Built Positions

Match updated roles with existing positions when importing data from isolved.

For customers of our isolved integration.


Entering Built position IDs in isolved ensures that Built connects individuals with the appropriate existing positions rather than creating new ones unnecessarily. This article explains how to utilize Built position IDs with isolved.

We recommend configuring how Built handles positions for imported terminations and new hires to determine if positions are automatically deleted or created.

You must first log into isolved and create a field category and fields:

To create a field category:

  1. Locate the main navigation on the left side of the page and click Client Management.

  2. In the dropdown, click Tables and then Misc Field Categories.

  3. Locate the navigation bar and click + Add New.

  4. Enter the category title “Built” and then use the checkbox to select data set.

  5. Click Save.

To create employee fields:

  1. In the main navigation, click Client Management.

  2. In the dropdown, click Tables > Misc Employee Fields.

  3. In the navigation bar, click + Add New.

  4. Enter the field title “Built Position ID”.

    You must enter the custom field name exactly as shown, ensuring there are no extra spaces.

  5. Click the Category dropdown, then click Built.

  6. Click the Data Type dropdown, then click Text.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Click + Add New to create another field.

  9. Enter the field title “Built Position ID Effective Date”.

    You must enter the custom field name exactly as shown, ensuring there are no extra spaces.

  10. Click the Category dropdown, then click Built.

  11. Click the Data Type dropdown, then click Date.

  12. Click Save.

To update a person’s position ID in isolved:

  1. In the main navigation, click Employee Management.

  2. Click Employee Maintenance > Misc Data Sets.

  3. Locate the employee list and click the individual’s name.

  4. Choose the appropriate option based on whether the individual has an existing Built position ID in isolved:

    •If the individual doesn’t have a Built Position ID record in isolved, click + Add New.

    •To edit an existing Built Position ID record, click the pencil icon.

  5. Retrieve the appropriate position ID from Built. There are several ways of copying position IDs.

  6. Paste the position ID into the Built Position ID custom field.

  7. If the position change should take place on a future date, enter the effective date in the Built Position ID Effective Date custom field.

  8. Click Save. If an effective date is not specified, the individual will be assigned to the correct position during the next import. If specified, the individual will be placed in the correct position on the effective date.
