For customers of the ADP Vantage® integration.

In addition to the default data fields imported from ADP Vantage HCM®, you can import custom field data. You can then utilize your custom field data in reports or when applying org chart visualization tools.

For each ADP Vantage HCM custom field you want to import, you must first create an identical custom field in Built:

  1. Click your company name at the top of the main navigation, then click Company Settings.

  2. Click the Fields tab.

  3. Click the +Add Field button in the upper right corner to create a new custom field.

Note: While all Built customers can add a custom person field, only customers of our Position Management module will have the option to add a custom position field or custom asset field. Creating a custom position field is necessary when importing a Work Custom Field from ADP because it must correspond to a Position Custom Field in Built. Likewise, a Personal Custom Field in ADP can only map to a Person Custom Field in Built.

  4. Enter the name of the custom field you want to add. The display name for the ADP custom field and the Built custom field must match exactly. Ensure all characters are identical and there are no extra spaces before or after the name.

  5. You may enter an optional description for the new custom field.

  6. Click the Field Type dropdown to select Short Text, Numeric, or Currency. The field type in ADP must map to a corresponding field type in Built. While some ADP Vantage field types correspond to an equivalent field type in Built (Number Field in ADP; Numeric in Built), other ADP field types must be stored in Built as Short Text. Refer to the table below to choose the appropriate field type.

Here’s an example of how you might select a field type when importing a custom field from ADP:

Your organization has a number work custom field in ADP called "Security Level" and a string personal custom field in ADP called "Food Allergies." In Built, you’d create a position custom field called "Security Level" and set the field type to numeric, then create a people custom field called "Food Allergies" and set the field type to short text.

  7. Select the appropriate settings for the new custom field, and click Save. Your custom field data will be updated during all future imports.

Notes about imported custom fields:

  • If a custom field is deleted in ADP after it’s been imported into Built, the data will persist in Built until you delete it.

  • If the custom field is deleted in Built but not ADP, the custom field data will no longer be imported or stored in Built.
