Using single sign-on (SSO) with your Built account allows people to securely access your company’s account using their Google, Microsoft, or other provider credentials. By enforcing SSO, you can select which SSO options are available for your organization and omit the option to create a password in Built.

To enforce SSO:

Note: Only Company Admins and HR Admins can configure SSO settings. To learn more about assigning admin privileges, refer to: Understanding User Roles & Permissions.

  1. Click your company name at the top of the main navigation, then click Company Settings.

  2. Click the General tab.

  3. Locate the Authentication box and click the Edit button.

  4. Select Yes to require employees to log in with SSO.

  5. Use the checkboxes to determine which SSO option(s) people can use to log in: Google or Microsoft.

    Notes about allowing SSO options:

•Okta will appear as an option once you've enabled the Okta integration.

•While individuals can access the system using their Slack or ADP login credentials, currently, you cannot enforce SSO for Slack or ADP.

•If you’d like to restrict access to a specific Google Domain or Azure Active Directory Tenant ID, enter the domain name or Tenant ID in the appropriate field (companyname.com, companyname.net, companyname.org, etc.).

  6. Click Save. New users will now be required to set up their accounts with the SSO option(s) you’ve selected.

Notes about enforcing SSO:

  • Individuals who currently log in with a password can still do so once you’ve enforced SSO.

  • Anyone who has only used SSO to log in will be unable to create a password.

  • If you disable an SSO option that was previously allowed, anyone using that option will no longer be able to log in. If this occurs, contact our customer success team for assistance setting up SSO for those individuals.

  • If you enforce SSO after inviting others to your account, people who haven’t logged in yet will be required to use the allowed SSO options.

  • Regardless of SSO settings, Company Admins can log in using a password or SSO.

  • While people can access the mobile app using SSO, you cannot enforce SSO on the Built app.
