For customers of our Position Management module.

Selecting your Position insights widgets allows you to display data most relevant to your current objectives. In this article, you will learn about the widgets available to help you monitor your organization's position data.

Your position insights display data on all filled and open positions, regardless of whether positions have an importance level assigned. However, setting a position's importance level for each position in your organization provides deeper insights.

Available Metrics

By default, only Company Admins can view all position insights. HR Admins and HR Managers can view most position insights by default but must have permission to view and edit budgeting data for the entire organization to access the "What does a position typically cost Me?" widget.

Positions

This widget helps you understand the current number of open, filled, and total positions in your organization. You can view a breakdown of position counts by department, chart section, location, employee type, and more.

Total Positions Over Time

This widget helps you analyze position trends over the past 12 months, displaying breakdowns by open and filled positions, location, employee type, business unit, and more. Hovering over the bar chart provides additional data to help you compare changes in position counts by specific groupings.

Built will begin tracking your position data once the Position Management module is added to your organization’s account.

What does a position typically cost me?

This widget provides the ranges and averages of annual pay rates across positions to help you quickly visualize and compare costs. You can view the breakdown by department, chart section, location, job family, and more. The calculation uses the annual salary rate for filled positions and the budgeted pay rate for open positions.

How critical are positions in my organization?

This widget helps you identify how many positions are considered critical in your organization by providing a summary of positions defined with high, medium, and low importance. This calculation requires first setting a position's importance level. Viewing this breakdown by importance level can also help identify needs for creating and managing succession plans.

How many positions have direct reports?

This widget displays the number of positions with one or more direct reports, helping to identify needs for managerial training and support. This calculation considers both open and filled positions.

How many direct reports are typically under a position?

This widget displays the average number of direct reports under a position, helping you assess the span of control across your organization. You can view and break down the number of direct reports by department, chart section, location, and more. This number only includes positions that have direct reports.

Turnover Rate

This widget displays your organization's turnover rate, or percentage of individuals exiting within a given time frame. You can view exits by month, quarter, or year, analyzing data over the year-to-date (YTD), the past 12 months (1Yr), or all-time (All). Hovering over the chart allows you to view the number of terminations in a specific time period.

FTE Over Time

This widget displays monthly full-time equivalent (FTE) totals so you can quickly visualize trends. You can view a breakdown of this data by open and filled positions, location, employee type, and more. Hovering over the bar chart summarizes the total calculation for each grouping.

Vacancy Rate

This widget displays the percentage of positions currently open in your organization, allowing you to compare this number to the end of the previous calendar year. You can view your organization's vacancy rate and a breakdown by department, job family, chart section, positions, and more.
