You can initiate an export from a few places in Built, depending on whether you need to export a list of people or positions and what fields you want to include in your file.

If you’ll be using your exported file to update information in Built, it’s important to understand how importing people-centric versus position-centric data impacts the changes you can make.

To export a list of your people:

Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can export all people and positions. Limited Admins can export people and positions within their specified scope. To export compensation and/or budgeting data, the individual must have permission to view and edit the data. Learn more about managing user roles and permissions.

  1. From the main menu, navigate to the People page.

  2. To export all people, click the Export List button at the top of the page.

To select specific individuals to export, use the checkboxes next to each person’s name, click the dropdown at the top of the list to select an action, then click Export to a file.

  3. Use the checkboxes to select the data you want to export.

  4. Click the Export button at the bottom of the page.

To export a list of your positions:

By default, only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can export org chart data. A Company Admin or HR Admin can adjust your company’s org chart permissions, allowing others to export org chart positions and data they’re permitted to view.

  1. From the main menu, navigate to the Org Chart page and select any data options you want to include in your exported file.

Customers of our Position Management module can also export a list of positions from the Positions table. To do this, navigate to the Position Management page. You can export a list of all positions or select specific positions using the checkboxes provided. Click the import/export icon in the upper right corner, then click Export.

  2. Click the import/export icon in the upper right corner of the page, then click Export.

  3. When the Export window opens, confirm your preferred format and view, and select any additional options you'd like before clicking Export.
