[*Creating chart sections*](/v1/docs/applying-org-chart-visualization-tools#chart-sections) *allows you to organize groups such as divisions, departments, and locations tied to your organization’s hierarchy for improved visualization and navigation. Chart sections and org units are not coupled, allowing you the freedom to manage them separately based on your organization’s unique needs.* ## To manage your company’s org units: *Only Company Admins and HR Admins can manage company settings. Learn more about* [*managing user roles and permissions*](/v1/docs/managing-user-roles-and-permissions)*.* 1. Click your company name at the top of the main navigation, then click **Company Settings**. 2. Navigate to the **Org Units** tab. Click the desired button, based on whether you want to manage locations, business units, companies, or departments. To add a new org unit type, click the button in the upper-right corner. *You can also edit or delete the org unit types, Business Units, Company, and Department, by clicking the three-dot menu in the section’s upper-right corner and then selecting the desired option.* 3. When the page opens, you can: **View existing org units** for the category you selected (e.g., departments). **Edit or delete existing org units** by clicking the three-dot menu in the left-most column of the table and selecting the desired option. *When managing locations, you’ll see additional options to assign the location or make it the default location.* *Built requires one of your locations to be set as the default. When you create a new position, it will automatically be assigned to the default location. You can then assign a different location if needed.* **Add a new org unit** by clicking the button in the upper-right corner, entering the appropriate information, and then clicking **Save**. *When adding locations,* *Location Name and Timezone are required fields**.* *A timezone must be* *set so that people assigned to that location can accurately view data associated with time.* *To request custom fields for your org units, please contact our Customer Success Team.* ## Assigning Org Units to Positions Once your org units are added in Built, you can assign them when [creating and managing positions](/v1/docs/creating-and-managing-positions). You can also quickly create and assign new companies, departments, and business units when manually editing a position’s data. *When updating org unit data via CSV import, cells containing blank values will also overwrite the current data. Imported position data varies across our supported integrations.* ### Importing from a Third-Party System Learn more about your [supported HRIS integration](/v1/docs/supported-api-integrations#supported-hris-integrations) to determine which org units are automatically imported. *While data imported via a supported HRIS integration will overwrite and update data in Built, fields that contain blank values will not overwrite existing data in Built. To clear the data in Built, you will need to manually edit the field.* Please contact our Customer Success Team for additional assistance. ## Additional Resources [Creating Chart Sections](/v1/docs/creating-chart-sections) [Creating and Managing Positions](/v1/docs/creating-and-managing-positions)
