This article explains how importing a file with rows representing people versus position data impacts the changes you can make in Built.
Understanding Import Options
Built supports data files where each row represents a person, as well as files where each row represents a position. When deciding which option best supports your needs, consider the information you want to update in Built.
When importing a people-centric file, you can:
Add people to your account
Update profile data
Update position data for a person’s primary position
Create secondary positions (dotted line relationships)
Note: When importing a people-centric file, columns containing position data will only update a person's primary position, except the Dotted Line Relationships column used when creating dotted line relationships via CSV import. We recommend importing a position-centric file if you need to update secondary position data.
When importing a position-centric file, you can:
Create and update primary and secondary positions
Update most position and people data
Fill open positions with new or existing individuals
Move a person into another position
Move multiple people into one position
Ensure your CSV file meets the necessary criteria before importing your people or positions list.
