Optionally, you can create a second custom field to specify effective dates for position assignments. All position assignments will be updated in Built during the next import unless an effective date is specified. ### To create Built Position ID custom fields in BambooHR: 1. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the page. 2. In the left navigation, select **Custom Fields & Tables**. 3. In the navigation bar, click **+ Add**, then **Custom Field** from the dropdown. 4. Enter the field title “Built Position ID”. *You must enter the custom field name exactly as shown, ensuring there are no extra spaces.* 5. Click the **Type** dropdown, then click **Short Answer** 6. Click the **Employee Profile Tab** dropdown, then click **Job**. 7. Click the **Section within selected tab** dropdown, then click **Job.** 8. Click the **Save** button. 9. Click the **+ Add New** button to create another field. 10. Enter the field title “Built Position ID Effective Date”. *You must enter the custom field name exactly as shown, ensuring there are no extra spaces.* 11. Click the **Category** dropdown, then click the **Built** button**.** 12. Click the **Type** dropdown, then click **Date**. 13. Click the **Employee Profile Tab** dropdown, then click **Job**. 14. Click the **Section within selected tab** dropdown, then click **Job.** 15. Click **Save**. ## To update a person’s position ID in BambooHR: 1. In the main navigation, locate the individual by clicking the search field and entering the person’s name. 2. Click the **Job** tab, and scroll until you see the Built Position ID custom field. 3. Retrieve the appropriate position ID from Built. There are several ways of [copying position IDs](/v1/docs/copying-position-ids). 4. Paste the position ID into the **Built Position ID** custom field. 5. If the position should be assigned on a future date rather than during the next scheduled import, enter the effective date in the **Built Position ID Effective Date** custom field. 6. Click **Save**.
