# Configuring Your Matrix Settings

*For customers of our Succession Planning* *module.*

Configuring matrix settings allows you to tailor the appearance of the [people matrix](/v1/docs/visualizing-and-comparing-internal-talent-on-the-people-matrix) and [succession plan matrices](/v1/docs/visualizing-and-comparing-succession-plan-candidates#matrix) to organizational preferences for unified talent evaluation.

## To configure your organization’s matrix settings:

*Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can configure the organization’s matrix settings. Learn more about* [*managing user roles and permissions*](/v1/docs/managing-user-roles-and-permissions)*.*

1. When viewing your people matrix or any succession plan matrix, click the gear icon in the upper-right corner:

*You can also access matrix settings from your* [*Succession Planning settings*](/v1/docs/configuring-succession-planning-settings)*.*
  - **Swap the X and Y axes** by clicking the double arrow icon.
  - **Select a matrix color style** from the **Color Style** dropdown.
  - **Select a matrix color scheme** from the **Color Scheme** dropdown.
  - **Assign a box color** from the dropdown in the upper-right corner of the box.
  - **Rename a matrix box** by clicking the field and editing the existing name.
2. Click **Save**. Changes will be reflected in the people matrix and succession plans across your organization, for all individuals with access.
